Messaging

We are just on the edge of seeing unified messaging systems being delivered by telecom operators in order to improve customer retention. While providers of UM systems still struggle with implementing even basic tasks like integrating e-mail and voice in one platform, the concept of unified messaging can easily be taken forward to more useful tasks. Such a system reminds one more of an intelligent agent that takes care of the information flow from and to the user, something more than just delivering messages. Introducing a meta layer of processing it is possible to create standard UMS applications that can turn the basic infrastructure into a system delivering (just to name a few simple examples) alarms, stock information, controlling remote devices, offering reminder services, automatically sending out birthday greetings, rerouting calls based on time or other triggering events.
