The Internet as Catalyst for System Integration
As one Swiss telecom provider puts it, "life is communications", and for most of us this is true. Bridging distances was time consuming before the advent of the Post, the Telegraph, and then the Telephone. These advances were tremendous, but they have been more or less improvements within single systems with rather severe user interface limitations.
And then in the mid 90's for most of us (and the 80's for the pioneers), came PCs with browsers, TCP/IP networks that were open to all, and multimedia content (HTML), and the Internet was really launched.
The Internet is not only a great interface, but in our view, it is the greatest communication network to date as it has eliminated all barriers in time and space between people and content. Anywhere, anytime with a incredibly simple interface. Further it is the "catalyst" for multi-system integration.
This is futureLAB's playground.
Some examples of our development efforts are in the subtending sections here. We share them with you so that you might understand how we have integrated our Internet experience with many other systems that are part of our daily lives.
