Wireless

802.11 is to Data as GSM is for voice. Our understanding of user expectations is "the least a user will accept, is the best they have ever had".

And if you want a mobile data experience comparable to fixed net access to the Internet (what people are used to) it's got to be 802.11. GPRS or UMTS will never deliver enough bandwidth.

It' not easy, but it is possible to make an 802.11 deliver what UMTS cannot. futureLAB is developing its solution, step-by-step.

It requires:

  • Handoff between access nodes
  • Usage collection and processing
  • Security Measure
  • Traffic Prioritisation for shared users
  • Authentication/Authorization of users
  • User Management (BSS: Subscription, Billing, Self-care, Troubleshooting) and Network Management

We are looking for business and trial-site partners who have established in-city networks and include wireless data communications networks in their business plan. As developers, we must hand off this product opportunity to a business partner who has the operational and marketing strength necessary to launch and provide life-cycle product management.
